Details

·     Purchased 6/2010 @ 76,677 miles I am the 4th owner, the first being Avis Rental Car, sold to CarMax @ 7,948 miles, sold to the private owner, sold to myself. The last primary driver was a mature house wife and the husband kept meticulous maintenance and records all of which were performed by either a Goodyear shop or a dealership. I was pleased to read all the records as most of the things known to possibly go wrong had been addressed. Lots of expensive things like AC compressor, rack & pinion, water pump, and much more made me feel good about the van. The motor is a 3.3 Gas & E85. The interior is blue cloth. The only engine mod other than tender loving care is a low maintenance reusable Spetre air filter

·     The van was purchased to aid in private investigations covert surveillance operations and has seen much service.  The middle seat was removed, custom tailored cardboard cut outs were made to pop into the surrounding rear windows and painted flat black, and a curtain hung behind the front seats.  No center console to aid in rapid deployment to the rear. Nobody pays attention to the Soccer Mom/Grocery getter sitting around. She did 2-1/2 years of faithful service in the field and was never discovered. Lots of stories unfolded looking on from this Van. The side windows are tinted one step darker than normally allowed in GA. With the window inserts in the rear and the factory privacy tint all I needed was to remove an insert from the window I needed to observe through.

·     My first modification to the exterior was the wheels. Sometimes in the line of duty we have to make sudden moves and in doing so in wet conditions I slid into a stone curb and bent a rim. This led to me finding these not too expensive wheels from TireRack. They almost look like original equipment not drawing too much attention. I did the drilled rotors and painted the calipers for fun after her retirement. Tires are Michelin Defenders. They are great tires.

·     Another must have for me is the Orange Electronic P409S Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Purchase from goodwheelcompany via Amazon. Great vendor. Very  Nice System.

·     My second and favorite modification was replacing the headlights with European Chrysler Grand Voyager units made for MOPAR by Zizala. I am into optimum auto lighting without blinding others and this van suffered. When auto makers cut costs with the use of the dual element 9007 bulb we all suffered.  The 1st time I drove her at night I was disappointed and could tell the US MOPAR engineers put no real thoughts or time into these headlights.

So when hearing about the Zizala / MOPAR venture I found a set on Germany eBay and through much expense and work I made the conversion. Zizala makes lights for many high end vehicles and they did not let up in this venture. Lots of advice and service was provided by Daniel Stern Lighting. These are not plug and play. A high performance harness was fabricated and Osram 65w Ultra High Output H7 Special-Service Bulbs were installed.

All I can say is WoW! Amazingly bright! Sharp, crisp, neutral in color optimally engineered lighting. When I hit the high beams its impressive to say the least as are the lowbeams. Its setup to burn all four on high. Not for the faint of wallet but I plan on keeping her for a long-long time.

·     Next add-on is the Viper 5706 Remote start and security system. Having a long range remote start will spoil you. There is nothing nicer than being in the grocery store checkout knowing you don't have to load up a summer time hot vehicle because you just fired it up and the AC was on when you shut it down.

·     Further security precautions are in the way of a Boyt Speed Series Top Loader Gun Vault  bolted to the floor between the front seats. I made some serious efforts to attach it securely. It comes with two predrilled holes but I added more with heavier hardware that would require a medium size crow bar to dislodge it. The box is made of a material that is not soft and prying the door open would require a hammer and wedge with time to spare. A vault in an automobile in my opinion is a requirement for a responsible gun owner.

·     Now the Audio. The head unit is a Pioneer DEH-P5200 HD . Coupled with their GEX-P920XM XM receiver. All speakers have been replaced with Memphis Brand Power Reference series speakers. The dash replacements are the 5.25" co-axial 15-PR42V2. The four rears are replaced with the tri-axial 6 X 9" 15-PR693V2 units. All rounded up with their 15-PR10S4V2 10" Sub in the 15-PE1X10V2 enclosure . Love it.

The Amplifiers are a Alpine MRP-F300 running the speakers and a PowerBass ASA 240.2x pumping the Subwoofer.

·     The next modification was the front brakes. I wanted to do something about the ease of which material transferred (AKA warping) onto the rotors under hard breaking that happens often in the line of duty. I did so with StopTech premium cryogenically treated and drilled rotors with Raybestos Advanced Technology Pads. So far so good.

·     Others are Retro Solutions High powered LED reverse bulbs, Tag light bulbs replaced with generic LED 5W5 replacements. A tire pressure monitoring system by Orange Electronic.
